My direct deposit apprently "failed", so Adecco is mailing me the check I should have had last Friday. Beverly seems to have no trouble with direct deposit at our bank.

IT fiddled with our computers over the weekend as part of "Project Clean Slate" - an attempt to excercise central control over all applications installed on every PC at Frank Russell. I don't know how it works, but it took my PC almost twenty minutes to boot this morning.

I still don't have access to the drive on which my project resides. I'm thinking that the ability to work on what I was hired to work on would be a good thing.

The apex of the embalmer's art:
Flesh the colour of parchment
And ice, enwombed in stainless steel.
A red tie and pinstripes.

I wish I knew what to say.
There's nothing can be said.
I wish I knew what to say.
Silence is the greatest gift.

Friends fascinated by the minutiae of
          What flower is that?
Baby's breath, tulips, lilies, pussy-willows.
Examining every detail but
that cold steel empty at the altar.

I wish I knew what to say.
There's nothing can be said.
I wish I knew what to say.
Silence is the greatest gift.

Sons and daughters suddenly busy
over cards or memories
forgotten until
this very moment.

I wish I knew what to say.
There's nothing can be said
but the roaring silence
and the echoing of a steel door
          snapping shut.
