Well, that's why I intend to spend this weekend dedicated ti drunken debauchery. Having a good time that way is the only revenge I can get right now. besides, why should I let the election change my plans.

for what? while i dislike almost everything the man has done, i've yet to hear a plausible argument for anything that would rise to the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors".

don't forget that both houses of congress are in republican hands & the atmosphere is much more partisan now than it was in the early 70's. it will take proof of seriously illegal acts to get them to impeach him or even get it brought up.

my concern is that people on the left will focus on this & all of the energy will be for nothing. getting organized for the '08 midterms & a better GOTV model for all future elections have the possibility of much greater returns. we're almost equal in fundraising, but republicans still have a much better infrastructure in the media, thinktanks, and overall message saturation.

Reaction over this side of the Atlantic seems primarily to be of the "What are the Americans thinking?" variety. Heaven help us all.

Thinking? Well, that's easy enough. Half of us weren't. After all, statistically speaking half of the population is under average intelligence...

I find this amazing, one reason I read your journal is that you write intelligently. Even though your views are 180 degrees from mine I respect them because they are presented with thought, passion and true caring. However, to say that I am below average intelligence because I believe differently than you is somewhat suprising.

not representative

I don't think you're representative of a lot of those that voted for Bush. People like my sister who says, "We should blow up all those brown bastards because they (the iraqis') invaded us." So you can see how we might come to this conclusion, if not erroneously.

People who don't know you, Swoff, might think you're an asshole. For that matter, people who DO know you think that but that's not a measure of your intelligence.

Now what?

Fight or flight. Really that simple. Either you are confident enough in the concept of America that you're prepared to endure four years of the consequences of this cretin for the sake of another crack at him and his odious crew in 2008, or you are not, in which case, flee, flee for your life and sanity to somewhere more liberal.

Where?

Don't come here.

Not that you wouldn't be welcome, but we're in no position to take any sort of moral high ground or liberal gold star.

Now What?

in the words of Milk and Cheese...
I'm hoping repercussions. In four years, the war will still be raging. We may have a new war. The dollar will be worth a fraction of it's current value. The debt and deficit, and the corresponding falling dollar combined with our reliance on imports (especially oil) will have the economy in a full tailspin. The brain drain will have robbed us of our position as a premier technological leader. In short, Osama will have succeeded. Well good I say. We can't be trusted with this much power. We're no longer a nation fit to wield it.

To me, this possibility is the bright side.
