This morning Victoria marched in the Junior Daffodil Parade with the Mason Middle School band. It rained. It was great fun, though. Then we all went out to Shakabrah Java for brunch and cruised some bookstores. A really wonderful morning and afternoon.
CHord got me a tape with very early takes on two of the songs for our opera. Geez, he's good. They're both pretty rough, but I'm very pleased. "God is Love (Maria's Song)" is particularly enjoyable. I wrote the words to the second song on the tape, "Unspeakable Beauty", and it's certainly the rougher of the two, but the chorus at least seems to work.
We'll talk more on Monday about the opera, tentatively entitled "Yuggoth". The milieu has changed considerably, as has the "time of composition" - right into the late nineteenth century. See the title of this entry for, um, clarification.
