Camino Photo of the Day: the Road not Taken

As one leaves Triacastela, the pilgrim is confronted with a stark choice. To the left is the route to the Monasterio San Xulián de Samos, which will probably add a day to your Camino. To the right is the more direct route, which goes through the village of San Xil. In 2013, we took the left route. This is very much the route I personally recommend, as Samos is not to be missed if at all possible. In 2016, we took the right route, mostly due to the pressures of time. In another month we will be winging our way to Spain, and a few days after that we will again be at this place, where we will take the left route.
