Ventas de Narón is a tiny village, more of a shady resting spot for pilgrims than anything else. There’s a tiny chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene here, and you are not allowed to take photos inside. So here’s a photo of the sign outside. Inside the church, a blind man stamps your pilgrim passport twice – once for the church and once with the seal of the Knights Templar.

In today’s Gospel reading (for December 7, the Memorial of Saint Ambrose), Jesus restores sight to two blind men, saying: “let it be done for you according to your faith” (Matthew 9:27-31).

In that Templar chapel in Ventas de Narón, there are two blind men as well: the one stamping the passport, and the pilgrim whose passport is stamped. The Lord grants us sight according to our faith.
