I am mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted, but here at almost 2am I cannot sleep.

The drowning-my-tension martinis have long since worn off.

I canvassed my precinct in the pouring rain from 8:30 yesterday morning until 4:30 yesterday afternoon and then sat with our official poll-watcher and performed assorted minor errands for the party until 6pm. Every. Muscle. Hurts. My feet are absolutely numb, and there's enough tension in my shoulders to string a suspension bridge.

And still, it's not over.

I notice the media called states for Bush even when no official results were in, but refused to call several states for Kerry (despite overwhelming numbers) until very late. So it goes.

Hope has drained out of me. I'm too numb even for any real anger at this point. I suspect, however, that this will change.

God help the Republic.

It's tough. I voted, then wandered home, and didn't watch or listen to anything about the election. I'm avoiding it. I was hoping it would be over by now. So I woke up a little while ago, and the business is still up in the air.

If there is a god, indeed, may it help the republic. People don't have the brains to help themselves, apparently.

Why is it that people who vote, think or believe differently than you don't have a brain? I find that amazing.

Mean rich people do

have brains enough to help themselves to all kinds of things. Give the nice SS man your billfold. Smile and bend over. Scared yet?

I've heard too much from many places. I do not like what my country is becoming.

People are progressively voting for dumber, more narrow-minded, presidents who want limit our civil and human rights. Jimmy Carter and Clinton get a bit of a run. Clinton was dumb for not being careful not to get caught.

I am moral. People can think what they want. I do not take lovers without permission from my husband. I obey the Golden Rule and recycle.

But I still believe that people who voted for Bush because he frightened them into it or invoked morals did their country and themselves a disservice. Had they read enough and studied harder, watched what goes down, and not listened to ads on TV, it might have been easier to face the next 4 yrs. The brainless won. Or those with an interest in making money by way of this administration. *snort*.

Well, I had to think about it, a bit, and recover from total disgust after the election. While Kerry wasn't my pick for cool,(I found Wesley Clark appealing.

I have just watched the republic I love do stupid, mean things to its people and the rest of the world

This administration has squandered our wealth, integrity, and human's lives to no end. What do we need?

So yes, if you voted for four more years of hell, I will think you brain-dead. I attempted another possible conclusion, but couldn't arrive at one. Sorry.

Even my mother's mother 90yr old mostly blind and deaf gets it. I respect the wisdom of my elders. With reserve, of course.
