Laying aside the obvious effect on my cocoa cup, my thoughts turn to the fate of the poor cocoa workers. I remember reading a story about the child indentured-slaves sold into the cocoa trade, regularly starved and/or beaten to death. Life ain't gonna get better for them because of this.
That's true and what is horrid about it is that the workers struggle for basic rights and less fluctuating prices has in part precipitated some of the turmoil in the forms of gangs of robust machete armed individuals. It's bad news all around.

Delicious, organic, delicious and ethical.
They source their cocoa from South America, paying a primium for the organic beans, and encouraging bio-diversity on the cocoa farms.
It's quite expensive, but I've found that you have to eat far less of it than you would a normal bar of chocolate because of the high cocoa content.
