Remember, remember the fifth of November,
gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'twas his intent
to blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below,
Poor old England to overthrow:
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.

And on a related note, happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] rhonan!

Hurrah!

My favourite night of the year!

Its like a warzone out there, and the smell! Cordite and autumn leaves - bliss!

Frankly I was very disappointed they weren't quick enough to release 'V for Vendetta' today!

Do you need a permit in Tacoma to burn someone in effigy?

I don't rightly know.

But I suspect it's entirely dependent on who you burn. If you were to burn, say, Dick Cheney, I think you could legitimately claim to be excercising your first amendment rights. If you had a decent attorney and you did it on your own property, I think you'd be set.

However, if you were to burn an effigy of, say, a former room mate, I think you'd be put away for awhile...
