Forget whiskers on kittens and odd bits of string and whatever else might have tickled Julie Andrews.

I'm feeling kicked right now. These are a few of my favourite things:

So cheer me up. What are a few of your favourite things?

1.The way that children will laugh hysterically when they see an adult frowning in a moment of lost seriousness has to be one of my favourite things in the world. Coming from a vast family of endless cousins and nephews I've seen this so many times before. My nephew five year old Thomas will catch me trying to understand the instructions ona microwaveable meal and will literally almost fall over laughing at the frown I pull, and ask, "Why are you making a funny face?!". I find that inability to take adults seriously extremely amusing.

2. World leaders falling over tends to make me laugh. The best has to be Boris Yeltsin when he fell into a bandstand in Ireland (after initially being unable to get off the plane because he was absolutely blind drunk).

3. But this is perhaps the funniest man I've seen in some time. The greatest impression of Al Pacino you would ever see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvymEadfPds&search=caliendo%20al%20pacino

Driving around in a brand new convertable mustang the wind in my hair and a lovely girl sitting next to me.

sitting inside around a campfire while its raining and thundering outside with all the lights turned down low or just off.

Hanging out with Megan tends to put a smile on my face as well.

The way the air outside my office, a few blocks from the sound, smells like summer vacation when I get out of work (we always went to the beach for vacation when I was growing up).

Salt air, lots of light left, life is good. :)

Leaning into a curve, feeling the tires bite hard, the footboard dragging and throwing sparks, glancing at the road out of the corner of my eye without having to look down since it's beside me.

That's fun.

My doggy behaving sweetly.

Plants flowering and setting fruit, like the tomatoes hanging juicy on the vine.

Baby pra(e)ying mantids. I know their nature, but they're cute anyway.

I liked the emergence of Brood X.

Designing and executing a dress in 23 hrs.

Quiet nights listening to the crickets and BBC.

Very cheap vodka.

Cuddling.

Jeez, I'm simple.

Cooking a really yummy meal that everyone likes. (Not simple or easy. Two omnivores and a vegetarian.))
